Juni 2009! Hier ein Link zum Auftritt von Colin = Aston in "The Caretaker"!

Colin!!!

"What Tom Ford doesn't know is I have the email in my outbox telling him I could not possibly do this. 'I was about to send this when a man came to repair my fridge... I don't know clearly what's best for me, so I would like to thank the fridge guy... And, um, Tom is someone who I think does know what's best for me and a lot of us, I am certain. An encounter with Tom Ford is to come away feeling resusitated, um, more worldly, better informed, better groomed, more fragrant and more nominated than one has been before. I've worked with alot of great directors and he is definitely up there with the very best of them. I'd also like to thank him for putting me in a room with Julianne Moore, Nic Hoult and Matthew Goode. And with the invaluable help and support of Icon and Jessica Kolstad, he seems to have put me in a room with a BAFTA as well, and I am deeply indebted to them. And Livia knows all to well how much I owe her for this and for everything else. So, all I know is never hit "send" before having your fridge repaired. Thank you."

Danke Miranda .

TKS

"King's Speech" Wins Early Oscar Buzz at Telluride
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Has Telluride done it again?
As the film festival wrapped its 37th year in Colorado's San Juan mountains Monday, the prevailing wisdom was that the event had launched yet another serious Oscar contender in the British royalty drama "The King's Speech."
The film, which stars Colin Firth, Helena Bonham-Carter and Geoffrey Rush, had its world premiere as a sneak peek on Saturday morning, five days before its higher-profile screening at the Toronto Film Festival.
After several additional screenings and a rare standing ovation Sunday night as part of a companion tribute to Firth, who plays King George VI struggling to overcome a stammer to rally his nation for war, the film has provoked talk of widespread awards recognition.
While other films also attracted partisans, "The King's Speech" was seen as having the broadest support across a broad array of awards categories.
Firth rode a similar wave last fall when Tom Ford's "A Single Man" rolled through Venice and Toronto, and the Weinstein Co. picked it up for distribution in December. The company plans a similar late-November release for "Speech," which was directed by Tom Hooper ("The Damned United").
Oder: OFF THE CARPET: Commence au festival (season)! Posted by Kristopher Tapley · 2:08 pm · September 6th, 2010
Without question, the film launching full speed ahead and into the Oscar season this week is Tom Hooper’s “The King’s Speech.” I truly haven’t heard an unkind word about the film all weekend here in Telluride, and I imagine that goodwill will continue into the Toronto fest this week as well.
I can easily see nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay and Best Art Direction. Nods for the cinematography and costumes wouldn’t be all that shocking, either, so I’d say nine is the ceiling. And I imagine we may see a win or two, as well.
Let’s face it. As overdue as Jeff Bridges was last year, there are many who think Colin Firth was robbed for his work in “A Single Man.” It could conceivably be makeup time when the Oscars roll around in February. My interview with Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Tom Hooper was interrupted Friday by a woman who wanted to let Firth know she thought he was robbed. How deep does that sentiment go with voters?
I imagine The Weinstein Company is breathing a sigh of relief with the favorable reaction, as “Miral” was met with blanket disapproval in Venice (here is Guy’s review). The studio has a few other tricks up its sleeve, but none so critical as Hooper’s film.
(I should say I think Bridges was perfectly deserving and that his Oscar was in no way a blatant makeup award, but Firth was truly worthy as well.)

Hallo,

BFI London Film Festival review: The King’s speech
Tom Teodorczuk 21.10.10
A year after his acclaimed performance in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, Colin Firth delivers the finest of his career — as a stammering George VI.
The King’s Speech, directed by Tom Hooper, premieres at the BFI London Film Festival tonight following rave reviews on the US festival circuit, and justifies the Oscar hype surrounding it.
A crowd-pleasing dramatic comedy, it provides a timely reminder of the charms that first-rate British acting and production values can offer. Firth is wonderful as George — known as Bertie — whose chronic stutter is an obstacle to communicating with his subjects.
After a disastrous address, as Duke of York, at the 1925 British Empire Exhibition, his wife Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter, comfortably returning to period drama) enlists the services of Australian speech therapist and struggling actor Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).
When Bertie assumes the throne in 1936 following the abdication of his brother Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), his dependence on Logue deepens. The film soars in depicting Bertie and Logue’s antithetical relationship. The monarch becomes indebted to the irreverent upstart (“My castle, my rules”, Logue declares during one speech session).
But while Rush is excellent, it’s really Firth’s showcase. He conveys Bertie’s inner pain expertly, to the extent that you regard this royal as anything but entitled.
David Seidler provides a strong script and there is a superb supporting cast, including Timothy Spall as Winston Churchill, Michael Gambon as George V, Anthony Andrews as Stanley Baldwin, and Eve Best as Wallis Simpson.
With this movie following on from The Queen and Young Victoria, the “relatable royal” genre risks becoming tiresome, but The King’s Speech is polished and emotionally satisfying entertainment that deserves to land Firth a golden statuette come February. --------------------------------------------------------
